Fifty Cups of Coffee #33: Victoria Hudgins
Date: November 22, 2024
Location: Zoom
How we know each other
Victoria and I first met when she picked me up at the Reno airport to drive to Lake Tahoe for a blogger retreat. Her bubbly personality and warm smile made me feel welcome immediately!
What Victoria is doing now
Victoria lives in Reno, Nevada, with her husband and twin teenagers who just turned 16. She is a prolific entrepreneur, running a portfolio of websites, including her personal brand site, Vhudgins.com, and her business planner site, PinkPopMedia.com.
Three questions
During these Fifty Cups of Coffee chats, I ask each person the same three questions. The reasoning behind each is as follows:
Question 1 – Social media makes it easy for other people to think that they know us, when truthfully, we all only see a small sliver of someone’s life and who they really are. This is the interviewee’s chance to share something that is important to them that, for whatever reason, other people may not know.
Question 2 – We all have fears, no matter who are are or where we are in life. This helps connect us and show we are all more alike than we are different.
Question 3 – I believe the answer to this question helps show each person’s true values, passions, and their why in life.
There are no right or wrong answers to any of these. I’m including each person’s answers in first person. Their answers have been edited from my notes for length and clarity, but these are their words.
What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?
“I am a very Type A, driven person. I’ve been that way my whole life, in different parts of my life – in high school, as an entrepreneur… but I don’t have it all together all the time, and sometimes when people see me they assume that I do. Even when I was young, I feel like I got less help and encouragement, and it’s weird. It’s something I wish people knew about me: that I actually could use support and help, even though from outside it may not seem like I do. There are days I am struggling, like everyone else, and I wish more people knew that about me.”
What is your deepest fear?
“I think it’s something happening to my children, especially as they are about to start driving. Just the idea that something would happen to one of my kids is one of the big fears in my life.”
If you had unlimited funds, what would you do with your life?
“I feel like my life would like pretty similar to what it looks like now. I would build a huge greenhouse, so that’s what would change. I’d figure out a way to stay in the same neighborhood – maybe buy up some houses so I could have land to build a large greenhouse and host dinner parties. We love hosting parties, and I would host a lot more parties.”
What I’ve Learned
Here are some of the things I’ve learned and some takeaways from our coffee chat.
- Check on your strong friends. I’ve seen that quote before, and Victoria’s answer to the first question hits home. It’s important to remember that we all need support, no matter how you may perceive someone else is doing at the moment.
- It’s really scary when your kids start driving on their own. I can also totally relate to Victoria’s worries about her teens driving. My youngest has been driving for almost two years now and it still terrifies me! Other driving adults: a reminder to be careful and patient – there are a lot of new, young drivers out there!
Thanks so much for taking the time to chat, Victoria!
