Fifty Cups of Coffee #20: Aneesha Gupta
Date: May 5, 2024
Location: Lake Tahoe, Nevada
How we know each other
Aneesha and I met during a blogger retreat in Lake Tahoe! We’re both moms of college students and I just loved spending time with her, swapping mom and blogger life stories.
What Aneesha is doing now
Aneesha currently lives in Sunnyvale, CA. She is the founder of the blog SpiceCravings.com.
Three questions
During these Fifty Cups of Coffee chats, I ask each person the same three questions. The reasoning behind each is as follows:
Question 1 – Social media makes it easy for other people to think that they know us, when truthfully, we all only see a small sliver of someone’s life and who they really are. This is the interviewee’s chance to share something that is important to them that, for whatever reason, other people may not know.
Question 2 – We all have fears, no matter who are are or where we are in life. This helps connect us and show we are all more alike than we are different.
Question 3 – I believe the answer to this question helps show each person’s true values, passions, and their why in life.
There are no right or wrong answers to any of these. I’m including each person’s answers in first person. Their answers have been edited from my notes for length and clarity, but these are their words.
What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?
“That I like to sing. I like to sing ’90s Bollywood songs, love songs from movies like Notting Hill and all the chick flicks. It brings back a lot of memories of happy, good times. It doesn’t matter how I sound, I just sing!”
What is your deepest fear?
“My happy place is my family, my home. My fear is any of those getting disrupted. A big part of my identity is being a mom and mompreneur, being a good partner to my husband, being a good child to my parents. All of these relationships are a big part of my identity, and my fear is any of those going away. I put a lot of thought into making sure those things in my life stay safe.”
If you had unlimited funds, what would you do with your life?
“I would not change anything much with my life currently. I’m very grateful and blessed for the way it’s going. Maybe I’d just invest more money in my business to be able to delegate more and do more. Hire a camera crew, build a set kitchen where I can do my recipes.
We’re a family of travelers. We love to travel so I would do more travels with my family.
Buy a vacation house — maybe in Tahoe!”
Lessons Learned
I loved chatting with Aneesha and learning more about her! Here are two of my biggest takeaways from our chats:
- Do what makes you happy – My favorite quote from Aneesha is when she said “It doesn’t matter how I sound, I just sing!” I feel the same way, Aneesha! About so many things. Whatever brings you joy just for the fun of it – be it singing, dancing, painting, wrriting, playing tennis. It doesn’t matter how “good” you are if you enjoy it with your whole heart.
- Our families, our identities – I can sympathize with Aneesha when she talks about how much of her identity is related to her family and relationships. While we are both independent working women, our souls are mothers, wives, daughters, aunts, cousins first and everything else stems from those relationships. It’s not a bad thing, and sometimes I think society makes us think we women have to choose one or the other, but we don’t. We can be all of these things to different people at the same time.
- Investing in our businesses – I can also relate to Aneesha when she talks about investing in her business. Just like we nurture our families, we also need to keep nurturing and growing our businesses.
